For a household considering cat adoption in Skowhegan, Venus offers companionship on her own terms.

She is a black-and-white female Domestic Shorthair mix at Somerset Humane Society, about eight years nine months old.

Her profile describes an independent cat who also enjoys spending time with her people.

A home that respects both sides of her personality could be a good place to begin the conversation.

Venus has lived with other cats and can share a home when she has room to step away.

Having her own space matters, even when she enjoys company.

Ask the shelter about her past experience with cats and how to plan introductions in your household.

Venus is housetrained, and her individual listing gives an $80 adoption fee.

Begin with the shelter’s pre-adoption application and arrange a visit.

Somerset Humane Society is at 123 Middle Road in Skowhegan.

Call 207-474-6493 to ask about Venus, the application process and her current availability.

She was listed November 3, 2026.

Availability can change, so contact the shelter before traveling.

A conversation with staff and an unhurried visit can help you decide whether this independent cat fits your home.
