💡 Answer to Trivia Question:

Ice. In the late 19th century, the Kennebec’s exceptionally clean water produced thick, clear ice that was harvested and shipped as far away as India and the West Indies. At its peak, the "Kennebec Ice" industry employed over 20,000 people each winter.
